TROUBLESHOOTING · PERSONAS
When a persona does not run
Start with the message shown on the persona’s settings page. Then check the provider, account limits, and the way you tried to start the task.
1. Read the current status
Open the persona’s settings from Agent Personas. Look beneath the chat controls for the runtime status and any error. Use View error when it is shown.
Check whether the persona is paused. Use Unpause when you want it to work again. If it is disabled, read the stated reason. A missing provider, a missing external runtime, and an administrator restriction need different actions.
2. Check the assigned AI provider
For a PersonaStack-run persona, check the AI Provider selected in its settings. Open that provider’s page and read any connection or attention message.
- Expired sign-in: follow the provider’s reconnect action.
- Invalid API key: update the credential through the provider’s settings.
- Provider usage limit: check the provider account’s available usage or billing.
- Model problem: open the model dropdown and choose an available model. The list loads when you open it.
- Location problem: check the selected AI Agent Location and any message about the connected cluster.
For a linked Hermes or OpenClaw persona, read the host and connection status instead. Its provider and execution are managed by that linked runtime.
3. Check quotas and billing
Read any account or organization notice at the top of the app. Follow Open Billing when it is offered, or contact your organization administrator if that is the instruction shown.
Also check the persona’s Token Quota and the provider’s quota settings. PersonaStack limits and the AI provider’s own usage limits are separate. Raising one does not change the other.
4. Try a simple chat task
After correcting the reported problem, choose Open Chat and send a short text-only request. For example: “Give me a three-item checklist for reviewing a project brief.”
If this works, check the original task’s integrations or schedule next. A missed incoming event can be a receive-setting problem even when chat works.
5. Open Run Logs
Choose Run Logs near the top of the persona’s settings. Find the attempt at the time of your request. Read the error and activity to identify where work stopped.
For scheduled work, open Tasks → Execution History and follow View run when available. For incoming events, use Troubleshoot integrations and tools.
Get help with a specific attempt
Email support@personastack.ai from your registered address. Include the persona name, the time and timezone, how you started the task, and the exact visible error. Add the run link if one is available.
Remove credentials, webhook URLs, and private task content from screenshots or copied logs before sending them.
