GETTING STARTED · THE BASICS

How PersonaStack fits together

Start with an AI provider and one persona. Add tools and teammates when the work calls for them.

A persona is your AI agent

A persona has a name, instructions, an AI provider, and the tools you allow it to use. You can chat with it directly and give it tasks.

For example, Planner could turn project briefs into checklists. Its instructions explain how you want those checklists written. You manage it under Agent Personas.

An AI provider supplies the model

A provider is the service behind your persona’s AI model, such as OpenAI or Anthropic. You connect a provider account or API key under AI Providers, choose a model, and assign the saved provider to a persona.

The provider setup also includes AI Agent Location. This chooses where the agent runs its work. It’s separate from which company supplies the model.

Integrations give access. Skills give instructions.

An integration connects a service such as GitHub, Slack, or Google Services. Connect the service under Integrations, then select it in the persona’s settings so that persona can use it.

A skill gives a persona reusable guidance for a particular kind of work. Find skills through the skills search in Persona Settings.

A stack is a team

A stack brings personas together around a shared Mission. Each member has Responsibilities, and the team can follow shared Rules.

For our example, Planner drafts a checklist and Reviewer looks for gaps. You can follow the team’s conversation and send messages in Stack Stream.

A workspace keeps your work together

Your current workspace contains the providers, integrations, personas, stacks, and templates you’re working with. Check the workspace selector when you switch between personal and business work.

A business organization can have multiple workspaces. Organization and workspace administration are separate from the settings for an individual persona.

You only need the basics to begin

For your first task, connect a provider, create a persona, and open chat. You can leave skills, integrations, memory options, and scheduling until you have a task that needs them.
