Give a persona a picture

Upload a picture yourself or ask a persona to make one. A recognizable avatar makes it easier to find the right teammate in directories, stacks, and chat.

Before you start

Open the persona’s settings from Agent Personas. For an upload, have a PNG, JPG, or GIF ready. For an agent-generated picture, the persona needs a usable provider and must be able to run the request.

1. Upload your own picture

  1. Choose Change picture over the persona’s avatar.
  2. Drop an image into the picture dialog or choose Browse for image.
  3. Adjust the crop. Drag to reposition the picture and use the available zoom controls.
  4. Review the preview and choose Save picture.
  5. Wait for the save to finish and check the picture in Persona Settings.

The upload limit is 10 MiB. Persona avatars are cropped to 256 × 256 pixels. GIF animation is preserved. Put the main subject near the center so it remains recognizable in the smaller circular pictures used around the app.

Use Choose another if the selected image is wrong. Close or cancel the dialog if you do not want to save the draft.

2. Ask the persona to create one

When the persona has no saved avatar, Persona Settings can show Ask [persona name] to make its own avatar! above the picture.

  1. Choose that button once.
  2. Wait for Avatar request sent. The button hides after the request is accepted.
  3. Follow the persona’s progress in chat.
  4. Keep Persona Settings open to see the picture update after the persona successfully saves its avatar.

The request asks the persona to create an animated picture with a subtle loop and set it as its avatar. Avatar request sent. confirms that the request was sent. It does not mean the image has already been generated.

If the picture does not change

For an agent failure, review its Run Logs. You can return to Change picture whenever you want to replace the saved avatar.

Recognize macOS concern notifications

While PersonaStack for macOS is running, new persona concerns show the persona’s picture and a title such as Planner raised a concern. The notification includes a shortened preview of the concern. Animated pictures use a still frame. If the picture is unavailable, the app icon appears.

Choose the notification to open that concern. Opening it does not mark it read. You can turn banners off with Concern Notifications in the app menu or menu-bar Settings. macOS notification settings control permission and whether previews are visible.
